About The Durrani Ledger

The Durrani Ledger could not be bigger fans of Cole Wehrle. We hope to keep buying his games for a long time.

Rating System

The ladder uses an Elo-based rating system. All players start at 1500. After each game, the winner gains points and the loser loses points.

The system calculates an expected win probability based on the rating difference between players. If you beat someone you were expected to beat, you gain fewer points. If you beat someone you were expected to lose to, you gain more points.

K-factor = 48: The maximum points you can gain or lose in a single game. If you have a 50% expected win rate against your opponent, you'll gain or lose 24 points.

Scale factor: Controls how much rating differences affect expected outcomes. We use 600 for 2-player, 800 for 3-player, and 1000 for 4-player. Higher scales mean upsets are more likely, so rating changes are smaller.

Multiplayer games: The winner is compared head-to-head against each other player. Non-winners are treated as tying each other. The K-factor is divided by (players - 1) for each matchup.
